First Trinity Virtual Worship and status of God’s Closet

Dearest Parishioners and First Trinity Community:

In light of State and City official’s suggested self-quarantine, we at First Lutheran Church of the Trinity feel that it is in our community’s best interest and best health practices to adhere to the recommendations and take every precaution to minimize the spread of COVID-19, Coronavirus.

With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations at both First Trinity Church and God’s Closet for the immediate future. God’s Closet will not be operating the clothing pantry. Please refrain from dropping off donations as volunteers will not be available to collect them. However in an effort to continue to serve our community as best we can, “to-go” meals will be distributed outside of the Community Center on Tuesdays and Fridays at standard God’s Closet times. We welcome the community to prepare pre-packaged meals for Tuesday and Friday distributions. Please contact welcome@firsttrinitychicago.com to sign up. Alternatively, please consider making a much needed donation here.

We will be transmitting virtual Worship services on the First Trinity Facebook page. Please join us on Saturdays at 1:00 pm for a children’s book read-aloud and every Sunday at 10:30 am for Sunday service as well as a children’s sermon. Additionally, Godly play lessons will be made available online every Sunday. Please follow us on Facebook during the week for live stream prayer groups and for all of the latest First Trinity news and announcements.

We ask that you continue to worship now more than ever and to focus on the meaning of faith, hope and love that is at the heart of our mission statement:

We are a faith community called to grow in the Spirit, to love as Christ loves us and to participate in God’s liberating work of justice and peace

As we are sent forth to proclaim God’s love for all of the world.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Nicolette Peñaranda
