First Trinity’s Urban Campfire Summer Series Begins July 10

All are welcome to join First Trinity for this family-friendly community gathering

CHICAGO, IL — Looking for something for the kids to do close to home? Craving a little sacred space and community during your evenings? Join First Lutheran Church of the Trinity for its urban campfire series this summer.

First Trinity will be hosting two campfires on its Bridgeport campus in July and August. The new family-friendly events will offer song, snacks, games and stories as the community gathers around a small fire.

‘We’re excited to be able to open this up to residents of Bridgeport,” said Andrew Mack, First Trinity’s council vice-president. “We’re a growing congregation, one that is committed to God’s work of justice and peace, and we’re thrilled to share activities like the new campfire series with the community. Everyone is welcome.”

First Trinity is known for its summertime Jesus and Justice camps, where children from the church and community spend weeknights playing, singing and learning stories and lessons about love and peace. Families across the neighborhood send their children to First Trinity’s camp for fun and good company.

This year, the church is trying something new. The campfires are designed to offer parent-child experience and community bonding in a safe, loving, caring — and fun — setting. It’s a way to carve out time for yourself and your loved ones in the midst of a crazy summer.

The campfire series will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wed., July 10 and Wed., Aug. 14.

It is open to adults and children. However, children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

No registration is necessary. First Trinity is located at 643 W. 31st St. in Bridgeport.
