Today’s festival derives its name from the Jewish festival of Pentecost, observed fifty days after Passover. On the fiftieth day of Easter we celebrate the Holy Spirit as the power of God among us that heals, forgives, inspires, and unites. In the reading from Acts, images of wind and fire describe the Spirit poured out on disciples of all nations. In John’s gospel the risen Christ breathes the Spirit on his followers on Easter evening. In the one Spirit we are baptized into one body, and at the Lord’s table the Spirit unites us for witness in the world.

Redevelopment Process

Our Call to Mission

We are going to officially kick off our redevelopment process on Pentecost Sunday.  Join us for worship at 10:30. Immediately after worship we will gather on the front steps for a group photo. Then we’ll enjoy a potluck cookout and celebration of our new Call to Mission!18698268_1730041870357565_403545827171334740_n

Who wants an awesome First Trinity Call to Mission T-shirt!? You don’t have to reply, we ordered enough for everyone! Shirts will be available on Sunday. Come to the sanctuary before worship (10-10:25).  We suggest a donation of $10 but pay what you can. These are totally appropriate to wear for the group photo after worship!

Tri-Sox HI FRIENDS! It’s been decided! We will do an after-worship outing to see the White Sox play the Mariners this summer on Sunday, July 16.  We will order the tickets on June 13 so please make your reservation before June 12. See Rene (Tuesday, Friday, or during fellowship on Sunday) or email rene@firsttrinitychicago.com.
We will not know the seat location or price until we book the tickets, but they will likely be $10 each, and will be in the upper decks.
This is always a fun day of fellowship! I hope you can come! Some of our siblings in Christ at Augustana Lutheran Church in Hyde Park are going to be joining us.
