Third Sunday in Easter
Sunday’s gospel begins with two disciples walking to Emmaus, overcome with sadness, loss, and disappointment. They had hoped Jesus, who was crucified, would be the one to redeem Israel! Yet the risen Christ walks with them, and then opens their eyes in the breaking of the bread. Each Sunday our hearts burn within us as the scriptures are proclaimed and Christ appears to us as bread is broken and wine is poured. The story of Emmaus becomes the pattern of our worship each Lord’s day.
Plus – Samantha will be leading worship and preaching! It’s going to be a great Sunday!

Redevelopment Process
Our Call to Mission
Hi Everyone! Thank you for all of the great input for our Call to Mission at last week’s meeting. Our team met and have used your ideas to create a draft Call to Mission for our redevelopment process. Over the next week or so we would love to hear your comments. We will finalize and vote* on the Call to Mission at the May 7 meeting.
Here is the draft:
Together in God’s love, we are a faith community called to grow in the spirit, to serve as Christ serves us, and to work for God’s reign of justice and peace.
Send your comments to welcome@firsttrinitychicago.com or write them down and give them to Rene or Pastor Tom. Thank you!
* if you are not sure if you are a voting member, please check with Rene!
Stewardship
This week we lift up the stewardship Marge and Tom Fashing. In addition to all of the things that Marge and Tom do to for First Trinity they have recently purchased new tables for the community center kitchen. We are blessed to have them in our church family!
